FAQ

  • Why would you choose to create art?
Remember, when I was a child, living in the suburbs and between cities, I enjoyed playing with friends in the natural environment. But living in the city does not have this freedom, because I cannot leave the room, which makes me want to return to the embrace of nature even more. I liked to sit on the windowsill and look at the sky, fancying about the shape of white clouds and creating several stories in my mind. It made me desire to explore the things around me. I often take my camera with me to explore in this city and it helps to intersperse and record the stuff we overlooked in the past. Listening to the voices of society and feeling the changes in the city and the natural environment motivate me to consider other ways to let people feel how they exist. Life is like a dream, I have been living in the city, and gradually forget the past me, as if everything is a dream, making me reflect on my creation. I was inspired by the "Realize (悟) " in the Buddhist scriptures and thought about the society, the relationship between people and the mutual influence of this world in a brand new manner. In this world, human beings constantly occupy the nature, but at the same time, the nature also occupies human systems. We are still a part of nature and cannot control everything. Things in the nature repeatedly split and change. The cycle of nature produces especial phenomena. I like its instability and intangible existence, a feeling that is hard to touch. Sometimes, human feelings are stronger than the power of nature. The nature impacts this society by rising different events and changes. The Interaction between the nature and humans has brought me many ideas. This year, I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity from PRÉCÉDÉE to hold a solo exhibition-"SIGH (嘥氣)" from 23 December 2020 to 1 January 2021, which aims to reflect the frustration from the social problems by showing the films including "Untitled Dream", "Doomsday" and "Wage Slave". Invited by No Paper Studio, I am very honored to play a part in the New Year's exhibition in 2021, and design for the poster installation. From this event, people can explore their ideas and goals, and think about their future. These things make me constantly consider my pursuit of creating art, whether I may become an artist or another profession in the future, I hope to continue to influence people's understanding of Hong Kong art through my works.
